Lewis Chalkley was among the winners at Ayr this afternoon as Middleham Park and South Bank Racing's Glorious Kitty landed the Oasis Summer Fruits Apprentice Handicap.
Given an enterprising ride by the seven‑pound claimer, Glorious Kitty was six lengths clear turning for home and never headed, crossing the line three‑quarters of a length ahead of Mwafaq.
Bought for £68,000 at the Goffs Breeze Up Sale in 2024, the Cotai Glory filly was breaking her maiden at the fifteenth attempt, having previously finished runner‑up three times.
Returned at 9/2, she finally got her reward and, along with the first‑place prizemoney, collected a sack of carrots for the horses to share in the morning.
