Acrisius was a winner in East Sussex this afternoon where to took the'Ring20 Epilepsy 10th Anniversary EBF Restricted Maiden Stakes' over five and a half furlongs. The most experienced horse in the field and with a mark of 72 he fought off the challenge of Rory Rocket to lose his maiden tag.

A speedy son of Ardad, Acrisius is our fourth individual juvenile winner of the year, following Scatter Penny, Alpha Magic and Blueandtangerine. He's also another home-bred success, his dam being black-type winning mare Aetna, making him a half-brother to multiple winner Copper Mountain.

It took 35 years of training before we paid our first visit to Brighton and we were impressed and could not understand why we hadn't been before.

Our first ever runner at the track was a 10-1 winner in the shape of Sparky who took the opening Ringmer Selling Stakes in August 1996. Thankfully there was no bid at the subsequent auction and we took the horse back home afterwards.

The course is beautiful, breezy and has a lovely atmosphere.

It had been five years since our last winner at Brighton which came in the shape of Maldonado in August 2019.

Sparky was our first winner at Brighton back in 1996.
