Four-year-old gelding Al Najada left the yard this week to begin his retirement with Peter in Ayrshire. A big strong son of Exceed And Excel, Al Najada will have a good life after racing and enjoy all sorts of adventures. The video shows him on his second day in Scotland where he's familiarising himself with his new surrounds. When rehoming a racehorse it is vitally important that the horse understands and feels comfortable in his or her new surrounds. This week Al Najada (now known as Monty) arrived at his new home in Ayr and here's Peter doing it by the book and letting him explore. Once Monty feels comfortable he'll be able to relax and it'll de-stress him to know he's safe. Previous trips by lorry have been to the racecourse or the gallops so Monty associated a lorry ride with racing. This time the lorry took him to his new home and not a racecourse, so it's all a new experience. Monty is now settling well and we look forward to following his progress. We'd like to thank Peter for giving Monty a wonderful home, Eric Gillie Transport for delivering him safe and sound and Monty's former owner Mr Peacock for letting this all happen. |
