An old name has reappeared on our Horses in Training list this week as we have another Skewsby. Ursa Major Racing have named their two year old Advertise gelding after the small village located in the Ryedale district of North Yorkshire, evoking memories of a stable favourite from the 1970s.
The original Skewsby won ten races between 1979 and 1984, with successes on the flat and over hurdles and fences. Retired from rules in 1986 he went on to run in point-to-points.
The new 'Skewsby' is set to make his debut on the flat soon and if he's even half as good as his predecessor we'll all be happy.
