Last autumn we retired broodmare Piece of Magic from the paddocks and she went to live with Katey in the north-east.
Now 21 years old here she is in the snow with a nice warm rug.
"We've got about 2 inches of snow here!" says Katey. "She finally let me put a rug on which shows she really needed it - every time before now she's stormed off with her ears back. They have two bales out in the field so plenty to eat and now all snug, too!"
"She was so good about it! No bad manners or anything which is amazing considering how long it is since she was last rugged!"
Piece of Magic left a legacy at New House Farm, for she was the dam of ten-time winner Where's Jeff and also multiple winning sprinter Alpha Magic.
