Shimmering Sands is having a fine season and he will bid for his third victory of 2026 in the Admiral Winning Line Handicap at Newcastle on Thursday. The resurgent seven-year-old posted two victories at Pontefract in June and he'll team up with Billy Garritty at Gosforth Park.

Shimmering Sands has been placed twice in six all weather outings, his best performance being when runner up at Southwell back in 2024, and he'll be aiming for his first win on an artificial surface.

It will be the first time Billy Garritty has ridden the son of Teofilo in a race where Junkyard Dog may be the one to beat, having won last time out at Southwell to advertise his all weather credentials.
Home-bred filly Aeternitas makes her debut in the Admiral Race To Riches Novice Stakes, as she bids to maintain her dam Aetna's perfect record with her offspring who have raced. She's a half-sister to five-time winners ratafia and Copper Mountain and also to winners Acrisius and Ganthorpe. Aetna herself was a Listed winner and has been a huge success as a broodmare.

What A Girl Wants sets the standard with a rating of 81 and will be tough to beat.
At Southwell we run Diligent Resdev who returns from a 75 day break, having last raced at Doncaster in June. He steps back to six furlongs in the bettingsites.co.uk Handicap, the trip over which he won the Ayr Bronze Cup in 2024. Joanna Mason takes over in the saddle, having been the jockey who rode Diligent Resdev to his first career victory at York when springing a 40/1 surprise on the Knavesmire.
