Spirit Of Acklam will be in action at Thirsk on Saturday as he tackles the Calverts Carpets Hambleton Cup Handicap over twelve furlongs where he will shoulder top-weight.

A winner at Hamilton in July, owner Maxwell Morrison's pride and joy will be bidding for his fifth career win as he makes his fifteenth start.

Eight horses have been declared and Spirit of Acklam is just one of two older horses who take on a field of three-year-olds who receive an eight pound weight for age allowance.
There's evening racing at Newcastle and we sent Yaajooz to Gosforth Park for the first division on the Free Tips On attheraces.com Handicap. The son of Ten Sovereigns joined us in 2024 when claimed from George Boughey at Thirsk, and he's run some good races since and been placed five times without getting his head in front.

Yaajooz was last seen at Wetherby when trailing in twelfth, and we switch him to the all weather this time over a course and distance where he went down by a neck last September.

Now rated 68 Yaajooz races from his lowest mark since joining us and is seven pounds below his career high mark of 75.
