Sondad will bid for his fourth win of the year on Sunday when he lines up in the Bold Lad Sprint Handicap at The Curragh, capping what has been a standout season for the stable's flagship performer.

The Gary Routledge‑owned five‑year‑old has surged through the handicap ranks in 2026, collecting wins at Epsom, York and The Curragh, and now returns to Ireland in pursuit of further prizemoney as he closes in on a career total of £250,000.

He has been with the yard since arriving as a foal in 2021 and has proven an exceptional purchase for Routledge, winning seven of his 19 starts. His record includes back‑to‑back Derby‑day victories at Epsom in 2025 and 2026, and he has forged a formidable partnership with Joanna Mason, who has ridden him in 17 of his races and is the only jockey to have won on him.

Sondad's first career success came in novice company at Ripon in 2024 before he claimed his first handicap at Southwell from a mark of 71. He began this season rated 93 and has climbed more than a stone to an official mark of 108 following his latest win at York in August.

A further career‑best will be required on Sunday as Sondad has to shoulder top weight, but the son of Washington DC continues to improve with age and is expected to be among the leading contenders in what promises to be a competitive renewal.
