It's been a busy week with plenty of runners at Ayr's Western meeting, and the action continues on Saturday as we head to Chester and Newcastle.

Our first runner of the afternoon is Diligent Resdev who contests the Style Joinery Handicap at Chester. Owned by Resdev in partnership with golfer Lee Westwood, the five-year-old will be bidding for his first win since landing the Bronze Cup at Ayr in 2024.

Diligent Resdev is now eight pounds below his career high mark of 86 and a pound lower than when winning at Ayr under Lewis Chalkley. Joanna Mason won aboard the son of Due Diligence at York in 2024 when springing a 40/1 surprise and she takes the ride from stall seven of the 10 runners.
The all weather action at Newcastle sees Aeternitas bid to become the latest winning offspring of broodmare Aetna. A Listed winner on the track, Aetna has produced multiple winners Copper Mountain and Acrisius for our stable and also Ratafia who has won five races for Michael Herrington.

Aeternitas finished fourth of seven on her debut at Newcastle and she steps up to six furlongs today.

The standard in the race is set by the 69-rated Tradittion (yes, that is how you spell it), trained by Tim Easterby who was runner up last time at Carlisle. Bahia Bonita was only beaten half a length at Chepstow last time and could go well again, although there are several newcomers in the field who could surprise the experienced runners.
