Danensian made his debut on the flat at Newcastle in October 1986. He won the 'Melrose Novices' Hurdle' at Kelso in 1987 ridden by Ronnie Beggan. In November 1987 he was part of a draft of eight horses sent to Goffs Sales at Kill in Country Kildare. On the way to the sale when travelling through Scotland the lorry was involved in a road accident brining superficial damage to the horses. All of the horses sold, and Danensian was the top lot at the sale selling for 10,000 guineas.
