Apprentice Lewis Chalkley rode his biggest career winner to date as topweight Diligent Resdev took the Ayr Bronze Cup this afternoon.

Lewis was riding the fifth winner of his career since joining us in 2022, having got off the mark back in 2023 on Refuge at Haydock Park.

Diligent Resdev joined us as a foal back in 2021 and is owned by resin floor specialists Resdev Limited in partnership with golfer Lee Westwood.

The three-year-old son of Due Diligence had already sprung a shock in May when winning at York at odds of 40/1 and this afternoon he ran out a 16/1 winner in Scotland. The £18,000 winning prizemoney was his biggest payday to date, topping the £12,000 won at York.

Diligent Resdev just missed the cut for the Silver Cup by one and therefore went into the Bronze Cup with top weight and he won his race decisively by a length and a quarter, defeating Parisiac ridden by Billy Loughnane.

Today's victory was the first time the stable have won the Ayr Bronze Cup and completed victories in all three of the six furlong events. Previous winners of the series of cups at Ayr have been Ancient Cross who won Silver in 2013 and Jon George who won the Gold Cup in 1977.
