Multiple winning mare Mid Winster has given birth to a healthy filly foal by Soldier's Call. The former sprinter is a first time mum and she's in the care of Norton Grove Stud near Malton where she'll remain at the Stud for a few days before coming home to the yard. "She's beautiful", said a proud Mick Easterby this morning. "Hasn't she got unusual face markings? I'm so pleased that we've got the first one of the season on the ground and there's a dozen more to come." |
The foal is bred for speed. Her sire, Soldier's Call, was a winner four times over five furlongs and was also runner up to Battaash in the Nunthorpe in 2019. Dam Mid Winster won five races over the five and six furlongs and is by Burwaaz who was runner up in the Flying Childers and the Molecomb Stakes, both pattern races over the minimum trip. |
A February foal, she has had a big head start on the rest of the 2025 season, with the next mare not being due to foal for another seven weeks. |
